Welcome | Sean Pramuk Owner/Manager | Giovanni Guerrera Owner/Chef | Scully Ranch At a young age, Sean was exposed to the vibrant life of restaurants, the importance of family and friends, sharing home-cooked meals, and jazz music. Sean and his five siblings grew up listening to stories about their grandfather, Giacomo Valentino who owned and operated the Vallejo Country Club, and family meals have always been an event. On any given evening at the Pramuk house, it is not unusual to find extended family and guests enjoying themselves next to the homemade wood-burning oven and preparing foods grown in the extensive gardens that cover almost an acre in East Napa, while the soft sounds of jazz play in the background. These convivial gatherings became the inspiration for Uva. Sean has worked in the service industry for 18 years at a variety of different restaurants, including The French Laundry and Piatti in Yountville, CA. He also managed establishments for the Piatti Restaurant Corporation in Sacramento, CA and in Kauai, Hawaii. But, it was while working in a trattoria in Parma, Italy, that Sean decided he wanted to open a restaurant. He partnered with chef Giovanni Guerrera and, with the help of family and friends, Uva Trattoria and Bar became a reality. All of Sean’s five siblings have worked in restaurants at one time or another. Currently, twin brothers Michael and Andrew, are partners in the restaurant. Mike works in the front of the house tending bar while Andrew works in the kitchen. Sister Caitlin, manages and waits tables, brother Christian helps where needed a few nights a week, mother Julie, creates the flower arrangements and father Joe can be found behind the bar at Friday lunches. After Uva opened, Sean was approached by Phillip Smith of The Gentlemen of Jazz who suggested offering live music on Wednesday nights. Once their catchy standards filled the room, there was no going back. Now, live jazz is performed by many accomplished Bay Area artists and is offered Wednesday thru Sunday nights at no cover charge. Great food, family, and all that jazz, is what gives Uva that inviting down-home feel. |
